I posted this on another forum, but Id like to get as much input as possible. Ok, so heres my dilema. Ive got a set of Stage II LS6/LS2 Patriot heads that, according to their site flow 308 int. 229 ex. at .600" lift. Ive yet to CC the chambers on my heads (bought em used), but worst case is, theyre a 64cc chamber.
Now, I can sell these for a set of L92's, which as far as I know flow 322 int. 214 ex. at .600" lift. But, they have 70cc chambers. Also, Ill hafta buy the intake rockers if I go with these heads.
So, my question is, will L92's make more power considering they flow 14 CFM better on the intake, BUT flow 15 CFM worse on the exhaust. ALSO they have bigger chambers by at least 6cc's. I wanna say that these two heads are gunna make about the same power, but Im not sure.
One more thing to consider is the budget. No matter which way I go the intake manifold is paid for. If I go L92 theyre gunna be run outa the box, no work besides puttin my springs in em. Also, Ill hafta buy the intake rockers for the L92's, which arent paid for at this point, so thats an extra cost over the Patriots.

* run the patriots Thank you for the straight answer lol. You've seen what this turned into on the other board. Do you suggest runnin the Patriots just for the compression?

the longer duration and lift cam you run, the more compression you can get away with on pump gas, have excellent, aggressive throttle response and aggressive acceleration. high compression, aggressive cam gives it that freight train pullin factor if you will. high flowing heads, intake and exhaust only add fuel to the fire. pun intended

Alright, thanks.
Ill be runnin long tubes and no cats for exhaust, and for intake I'm gunna go with the Victor Jr. and a 750HP with some better metering blocks. So hopefully the MS3 will treat me good.

The port design is completely different on the l92's also you need quite a bit of motor to run them. Also you have to be alot more careful with cam selection on the l92's also from what I have seen. Patriots are worked and are a bit more forgiving of combination.

Lol, I know theyre completely different. Thats the second time Ive heard that the L92's are picky about the cams you run with em. I trust your input more though, just from followin your threads on Tech. After listening to input from a few ppl, Im pretty confident that the Patriots and MS3 with a Vic Jr will net me some good results. Granted not as much as a custom spec cam, but it still wont be a slouch.

im no expert, but my engine builder showed my the differences. stock ls head versus a patriot head. patriot head was WAY soft compared to the GM stock. showed me the results of what happens when you knock the valve guides out of the 2. the GM head won. my .02
